New Here?
Let's get you started in the right direction.
Welcome to Spiral Moon
Maybe you've been Pagan for years.
Maybe you're just beginning to wonder whether Paganism might be right for you.
Maybe you're a parent looking for a spiritual community for your family.
Maybe you're looking for a Pagan church, Wiccan community, or simply a place where you can meet other people who understand your path.
Wherever you are starting from, welcome.
Spiral Moon is an eclectic Pagan and Wiccan community in southeast Michigan. We are a family-centered spiritual community that brings together Pagan spirituality, Wiccan ritual, polytheism, modern witchcraft, learning, service, and everyday spiritual practice.
You don't have to know everything before you come through the door.
You don't have to have the "right" Pagan label.
And you don't have to be ready to become a member.
You can simply start by being curious.

What Is Spiral Moon?
Spiral Moon is an open Pagan circle based in southeast Michigan. We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization with programs serving individuals, families, children, and the wider Pagan community.
Our tradition is eclectic. We draw from Wiccan ritual, Pagan polytheism, modern witchcraft, and the wisdom and experience of our own community.
We believe that:
- the sacred can be found throughout the world around us;
- our homes and families can be sacred spaces;
- people deserve autonomy over their own bodies, beliefs, and spiritual paths;
- learning is a sacred act;
- community makes us stronger; and
- spirituality should lead us toward compassionate action and service.
You can learn more about our beliefs, mission, values, and the people we serve on our About page.
You Don't Have to Be "Pagan Enough"
One of the most common worries people have when exploring a new spiritual community is:
"Do I really belong here?"
You don't need to be an expert in Paganism.
You don't need to know every Sabbat.
You don't need to know the names of every God and Goddess.
You don't need to own an altar.
You don't need to know how to cast a circle.
And you don't need to have decided exactly what you believe.
We welcome people who are:
- completely new to Paganism, Wicca, or witchcraft;
- experienced Pagans looking for community;
- solitary practitioners looking for connection;
- families raising Pagan children;
- people exploring different Pagan traditions;
- members of covens or circles who want to connect with the wider community; and
- people who are simply curious and want to learn.
Curiosity is a perfectly good reason to start.
What Can I Do at Spiral Moon?
There's no single way to participate.
You can start wherever it makes sense for you.
๐ Attend an Event
We offer seasonal celebrations, community events, educational programs, and other opportunities to gather.
If you're attending something for the first time, check the event description for information about location, registration, cost, and any special instructions.
๐ Learn Something
Education is a major part of what we do.
We offer opportunities for children and adults, from introductory Pagan education to more specialized study.
You can explore:
Our educational offerings include Pagan and magical studies, children's religious education, energy healing, homeschooling resources, the Spiral Moon Academy, and clergy formation through our seminary.
You don't have to be an experienced practitioner to begin learning.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Find Something for Your Family
Spiral Moon was built around the idea that family can be a sacred community of its own.
We offer programs and resources for Pagan families, including:
- Sprites & Sparks โ our youth/scouting-style program for children of all ages and abilities;
- Pagan Parenting resources;
- Pagan homeschooling resources; and
- family-oriented spiritual activities and celebrations.
If you're raising Pagan children, you don't have to figure it all out by yourself.

Sometimes what you really need isn't another class or another book.
You need people.
Spiral Moon supports community connections through family programs, community resources, Pagan networking, and other projects.

- volunteer;
- support a project;

- eventually take on a leadership or teaching role.
There's no requirement to do everything.
Start with what interests you.
What Happens If I Come to an Event?
This is probably the question you're really asking.
And the honest answer is: It depends on the event.
Some Spiral Moon activities are educational. Some are social. Some are seasonal or religious celebrations. Some are designed specifically for families. Some may be online. The event listing should tell you what kind of event it is and what you need to know before attending.
For a public event, you generally don't need to already be a member of Spiral Moon simply to show up. Some events are free, while others may have a fee or require registration.
If you're unsure, ask us.
You are never expected to walk into an unfamiliar Pagan event already knowing what to do.
Do I Have to Believe Exactly What You Believe?
No.
Spiral Moon is eclectic, which means we don't expect every person in our community to have exactly the same spiritual practice.
We honor many Gods and Goddesses and recognize the Divine in the world around us. We also value personal sovereignty and the ability of each person to develop an authentic spiritual path.
You can learn more about our particular approach on our About page.
If you aren't sure whether your beliefs fit with Spiral Moon, ask us - a conversation is much better than trying to guess from a label.
What About Children?
Children and families are an important part of Spiral Moon.
We have family-oriented programming as well as Sprites & Sparks, our youth program for children of all ages and abilities.
Because not every event is designed for children, please check individual event information before bringing children to an event.

What About Privacy, Safety, and Boundaries?
We believe spiritual community should be built on respect, consent, personal autonomy, and appropriate boundaries.
Spiral Moon maintains policies addressing harassment and safeguarding, including protections involving children, young adults, and vulnerable adults.
If you have a safety, accessibility, or participation concern that isn't answered on the website, please contact us before attending.We're happy to answer questions.
Do I Have to Become a Member?
No.
You can attend public events without becoming a paid member.
Membership is one way of supporting Spiral Moon and gaining additional benefits, but we don't expect someone who is just getting to know us to immediately commit financially. We offer several membership levels, including a free basic membership, as well as paid options that provide additional benefits such as library access, classes, community groups, and event discounts.
If membership dues would create a financial hardship, please contact us. We would rather find a way for you to participate than have money keep you away.
What If I Don't Live Near Southeast Michigan?
You can still be part of Spiral Moon!
Some of our activities and resources are available online, and our broader projects serve people beyond our immediate local community. If you're not sure whether there is a way for you to participate from where you live, contact us and ask.
